BROOMSTICK CROCHET

I love Broomstick crochet stitch but I have yet to use it. It gives you a beautiful lace clothand of course if you use thread it gives you an even more delicate looking high quality lace. On You Tube you can find excellent tutorials on this technique.

For inspiration just google it and then you make your own designs

  1. I never knew there are so many wonderful things one can do with crotcheting. How did the name broomstick derived from? Is it supposed to act as a broomstick or a cover for the broomstick? Sorry if the question sounds absurd but I am new to this amazing world 😀

  2. I bought a “broomstick” as part of a stash of yarn and other knitty things in a second hand shop recently. I’ve been trying to set time aside to try it out as the patterns are so beautiiful. Thanks for reminding me!

      • You could pretty much use any yarn. I have work the broomstick using size 20 and 10 thread when I made a table runner and a Bible case. Then I use sports weight yarn when I made a vest that had the broomstick stitch on the bottom part of the pattren and then I used worsted weight yarn when I crochet a afghan made of nothing but broomstick stitches. So just pick a project that you like and the yarn you enjoy working with. The broomstick stitch works well in all yarn.
