NEXT RECYCLING PROJECT!!!

I want to start my next recycling project soon, andΒ I want it to be a massive rug, it will be made of………..you guessed it!! clothes that were going to end up in a landfill.

This project may take some time since I want the rug to be big enough to cover most of the room and I am leaning with a technique I have seen on the web, but who knows I may change my mind just before starting, or after, who knows…

  2. Good luck with the new project – I made a small rug for the side of my son’s bed when he moved into a new flat using bits and pieces from their old dressing up box. Lots of lovely memories!

      • It only measured about 15″ x 26″ so it wasn’t massive. I used the technique of cutting in a spiral (well more of a ‘squaral’ really) so it didn’t take too long but it wasn’t really something to do in front of the TV as I was trying to keep it a uniform width (didn’t want to risk the scissors slipping during an exciting bit ;-).

  3. I crocheted one rug, and as much as I like it on the floor i will not take on a project like that again, just too big for me! Or maybe, when the kids are big…? To me it just became a “must do” thing at the end, and I felt overwhelmed. But I really like reusing old t-shirts, I just focus on small projects (like these, in case you are interested: http://freebutfun.wordpress.com/2013/07/07/crochet-out-of-t-shirts/)

  7. I went to a workshop this afternoon at the Cape Craft Design Institute – this was EXACTLY the topic under discussion: how to save things from the landfills and turn them into something else useful and pretty. We have an awesome initiative here called “Too Good to Waste”, and there were people speaking about what materials they use to create anew. I’m SO looking forward to seeing your rug. πŸ™‚
