Broomstick Lace is a very nice crochet stitch. We did a Collar CAL using this stitch some time ago, and I love this stitch, so when I saw a Chanel Crochet Purse worth $24,980 my eyes grew large.

Okay, so I know crochet is back in a big way and everything that has to do with crochet is gaining steam with big name designers and all of that is great with me, but my question is: Can I crochet a broomstick lace purse and attach a $10,000 price?? will it sell?? is my name enough for it to appeal to a rich person? because trust me it will be a WELL Made handmade, is that enough??

Or do I need to work for D&G and Chanel to get validated? I have no idea if I will ever get the answers to my many questions…

So I know you are curious to see the purse, which is cute without the additions, IMO, so here she is:

  1. really awesome-possum… congrats! πŸ™‚

  2. Your post reminded me of a Craftivism exhibition we visited a couple of years ago which included a ‘Chanel’ crochet bag from The Counterfeit Crochet Project. I think I probably have the pattern somewhere. I made my own version of it but without the CC logo as I am one who seriously avoids logos wherever possible πŸ˜‰

    • thanks for the link πŸ™‚ and I like that you did your own version, when it comes to crochet i believe some people appreciate it more if it has a “big” designer name and a big price tag attached…doesn’t make sense…

  3. Makes you wonder who was the person that actually did the crochet work! πŸ™‚ It is stunning.

  4. OH MY!

  5. That price is a mistake, I saw that bag for $1795.00, still really expensive but unless that bag has Coco Chanel’s ashes in it or she crocheted herself there is no way it’s that expensive, I think you could probably make a more beautiful bag.

  6. wow

  7. Cute but not for that price. I often see items that are made to look handmade and think to myself… “I could make it myself for less money and customize it however I want”!
