THROWBACK TUESDAY

In the Crochet world we have an “oldie but goodie” or vintage classic that we call the Pineapple Doily.

I believe the Doily is the first project most of us completed after learning all the basic crochet stitches and I am almost certain there was a pineapple somewhere in the design.

Pineapples and Doilies are classic in my book. I have seen hundreds and I know any one of us can come up with more designs using the same technique it is that versatile.

Doilies brighten up any space with that old world charm, that brings elegance and simplicity to our lives.

I have seen the simpler ones to the really complex ones and to tell the truth they are not at all difficult to master.

So, please come along as we enjoy the beauty of doilies with the pineapple design, thanks to my friends Pinterest and Google 🙂

  1. I love pineapple doilies too and have one I made years ago on my dining table. These here are amazing! 🙂

  2. As a child the mat under the wooden fruit bowl was a pineapple one. Old and a bit broken now I think I have it somewhere. I have never made one myself, though I have at least one book full of pineapple patterns for all sorts of things.

  3. These are beautiful! I have several doilies that my late mom had and I cherish them, a she made most of them. I have yet to try making one myself, but it is on my list of things to do! Thank you for sharing these. 🙂

  4. I have never done a pineapple doily but I have been looking at patterns with pineapples with a view to incorporating one into a scarf! I love doilies, I do have one I started years ago, left for a while and never picked back up. Sharon x

  5. I never have, lol. But I have a very close friend who is an aficionado of crochet pineapples. She collects the patterns, very way of making a pineapple that she can find, so when I come across an old pineapple pattern I snag it for her.

  7. I have a friend who does beautiful doilies, but I’ll admit using that fine thread and tiny hook intimidates me. I love them though, and so I do cheat and buy them at yard sales and second-hand shops when I see them.
