2 DOUBLE CROCHET: 2DC

I like simple stitches sometimes: no fuss just bliss ๐Ÿ™‚

So, I am working on another big project and I will call this one the MTB which stands for male teen blanket.

The design for this blanket is simple with a very basic stitch. This is a custom order and the specifications are:

1- It should be warm and not frilly looking.

2- The color must be navy blue with maybe a little splash of color here and there.

3- Big enough for me, translation: I should be able to cover all my body even my ten toes should be covered.

So, I looked at these 3 specifications and decided that this needed to be ย a very serious blanket ๐Ÿ™‚

The stitch I wanted to use was something I could do while watching movies or half asleep, it had to be simple. So, I tried the ย 2 DC with no spaces and if you look on the photographs ย you will notice that the 2 DC are in the same space, like the shell stitch.

I like the look and feel of this stitch, and the good thing about it is that you won’t find many errors because it is so repetitive, that after the second row you will notice that you are not even concentrating anymore.

Next, I decided on the double strand method, I find that it makes the blanket feel thicker and warmer which makes it ย perfect for colder weather. This means: I am going to need a serious amount of yarn.

So, for big projects like this one the best thing to do is to buy ย yarn that are on sale, or even better, go to the deep discount section and look through the bins, you will be happy with the prices.

Take a peak at MTB, he is growing nicely….

  1. It is great to find variations of stitches that make a neat pattern and are still easy enough to work on when you don’t want to concentrate.

  5. That looks so warm and cosy! Did you manage to get your yarn at a discount? Whenever I see discount yarn it is usually just a few odd balls, certainly not enough for a seriously big project!! x

    • yes, most of it, what I do is every time I am in Walmart I check to see what is on sale, and Joan’s has a huge bin in the back of my local store that has lots of nice yarn, at really low prices… we will see if I can finish this blanket with discounted yarn lol ๐Ÿ™‚
