The Advent Season is a Catholic tradition that I like and I found it is a great way to celebrate Christmas,  as a Protestant.

The Advent Season starts the 4th Sunday before Christmas Day until Christmas Eve and it is a time of Prayer, Fasting and Repentance followed by Anticipation, Hope and Joy, in other words: we prepare ourselves to celebrate the coming or birth of Jesus Christ.

The Advent Calendar has numbered slots and each day has a small token in it, like scripture, photos, games, chocolate, etc.

Our weather today is perfect for this season 🙂

Now that I do not need to rush I can take it easy and work more on my RR IMG_4580 which is massive. Making tarn takes time…..

Do you have traditions you like to celebrate around Christmastime?

  1. Advent is a wonderful tradition even for us Protestants. We have an advent calendar my mother made for my daughter many years ago which we use every year. The crocheted calendar is beautiful, and your rug is coming along great.

We do Advent calendars too. My kids are a bit older so we have moved to hair bands, nail polish, a piece of candy or mini Lego figures, cars, and candy for my daughter and son. They look forward to it every year.

  6. I like to have a nice meal on Christmas eve because that’s when we had our special dinner when I were growing up in Spain, but we also have Xmas dinner with all the trimmings on 25th because I live in England now..
